American Sign language (ASL) is a complete natural language, and has the same linguistic properties as spoken languages. Also, typical language development is in high gear during this tender time in your child’s life. ASL won’t hold your child back either! Rather, sign language will give your little one another way to communicate their thoughts, desires, and feelings with you. 

As an academic with a background in education and ASL, I’ve always been passionate about creating spaces where families and their children can learn together while having fun. Before moving to CT, I used to run a language immersion summer day camp in Guam, CNMI and the Philippines (where I grew up). Since becoming a mom, I’ve realized how important learning groups are for wellbeing as well as incidental and intentional learning. ASL changed my life! Opened my eyes to a whole new culture and took me on adventures around the world.
